Vantaa symbolizes another part of Finland and Finland itself. Vantaa represents our history, who we are, and where we come from. It is a big place – you can see that the official new year holiday celebrations take place here every year. The area is also very well connected to other parts of Finland by public transport and roads.

The naming of a place or area can serve as a symbol, even if the name is not intended to represent the area’s literal history. Before the term Kökar was used in written language, it simply referred to any open flat hills near rivers and lakes. The rapids were known as Helsingfors before the early settlement. The rapids of this river were later named Helsingfors in Sweden by the Swedish king Gustav Vasa in 1610, for his epic and extensive journey to Sweden from Finland.

Vantaa became Finland’s main center for salmon fishing, as the river running through its territory was used by fishermen. A relaxed lifestyle developed around fishing for the fish, and Vantaa played a large role in promoting Finnish culture to the world.

This year was significant to history as the first ore deposit was completely discovered in the Finnish Arctic. Ore deposits have been uncovered at sites like Pyhäjärvi, Vuokatti and Vaasan Perinnes. “The processing of excellently produced in Tikkurila’s plant occupies 30% of the total production during the year and accounts for 10%-15% of its annual turnover.

The combined result of the railway and Tikkurila station is depicted in the design, which featured a railway viaduct crossing from King’s Road. The original station was demolished in 1884. Later replaced by the Central Railway station, which was inaugurated on June 4, 1906. The most famous railway station in Sweden has (or is supposed to have) nothing to do with railways. The building is designed by a Finnish architect, Carl Albert Edelfelt, who was appointed as the project’s supervisor in 1878.
