Lehmbruck Museum 

Lehmbruck is considered one of the most prominent artists of 20th-century art. The museum which houses his works has 100 of them, including his sketchbooks, drawings, and paintings.

Landschaftspark Duisburg Nord 

The ground was cultivated with plants to remove pollution from the soil and where possible infrastructure has been repurposed. Museum Küppersmühle 

The building is half of the experience at this contemporary art museum. The structure was originally built back in 1908 and was a granary (that had 42-meter-tall grain silos on its eastern side from 1934). There was a citizen’s movement in the 70s that eventually led to the preservation of the building and it was given a completely new and modern makeover by Herzog & de Meuron in the 90s.

Tiger and Turtle – Magic Mountain 

The “Tiger and Turtle” is just an interactive, wooden rollercoaster hill with staircases instead of rails located on a hilltop. It was created in 2010 when Duisburg was the cultural capital of Europe.

Duisburg Rathaus 

From the start of the 19th century to the end, Duisburg’s population increased massively. This caused both a large demand for construction and an increase in population. They had to rebuild their town hall twice to meet these new demands.

Mercatorbrunnen 

Gerardus Mercator was a Flemish-Germans born in Leuven but later changed his religion and moved to Duisburg. The 1569 World Map created an iconic and transformative map that showed a spherical Earth, which was not known to the public before then. This method became known as the Mercator Projection method and is used in many places today.

Archäologische Zone Alter Markt 

Archaeologists discovered the remains of the old medieval market at the start of 1982 while drilling for Duisburg’s U-Bahn. This had been on Burgplatz in front of the town hall, which is where it all started in the 900s.

Duisburg Zoo 

Duisburg Zoo features a wide variety of animals, around 300 in total. The Zoo’s water enclosures are what gave it its name and have always been one of the main attractions for visitors.

Salvatorkirche 

The Gothic church sits on Burgplatz in the center of town. Its characteristic truncated tower resulted from being hit by a bomb during the World War II bombings.

Königstraße 

Duisburg’s main pedestrian street artery links the train station with Kuhtor, an old city gate that used to be located near here. The street is lined for about 600 meters by international chains, three major shopping centers, and a Kar’s department store branch.

Sechs-Seen-Platte 

Duisburg is known for its natural beauty with six connected lakes making it a great place to enjoy outdoor activities. A variety of different recreational activities are available on the Sechs-See-Platte site because it was a manmade option. You can enjoy a long walk, morning run, or swim in one of the many outdoor pools that are popular across Switzerland!

Aussichtsturm Wolfssee 

On the east side of Wolfssee, one of the six lakes of the “Sechs-Seen-Platte”, stands the Wolfsberg. This is a manmade point and the second highest publicly accessible point in Duisburg. It is capped with Tiger and Turtle just like its Hill counterpart.
