Radom was initially built in the 8th-9th century and is noted as an early medieval settlement in the valley of the Mleczna River. The site has been known as Old Town since modern times. The city had three gates named after the routes that passed through it: the Iłża Gate, the Piotrków Trybunalski Gate, and the Lublin Gate. It was in 1364 that Radoms ancient society rights were replaced with more modern Magdeburg rights. This led to significant benefits for settlers and trade. At this time, Radom was located along an old trail from Ruthenian lands to Silesia. It had become a starosta in 1376 and was at the height of its prosperity.
