Papiermuseum Alte Dombach 

A big mill in alte Dombach, which started making paper in 1614. The water-powered methods used before the 19th century are compared to mass production machines like the 40-meter-long PM4 from 1889. The museum has a laboratory with a small, functioning machine turning raw materials into leaves of paper, which can be used to make paper.

Kunstmuseum Villa Zanders 

This neo-Renaissance villa was bequeathed to the city as a cultural venue in 1932 and in 1986 the restored building became the municipal gallery.

Mediterana 

In the Saaler Mühle district are fun and educational spa attractions. Swimming pools, lazy rivers, colorful waterslides, and other fun aquatic adventures for everyone – all in the summer.

Schloss Bensberg 

Schloss Bensberg sits high atop a hill and does open its gates to the public for a few annual events like a classic car fair in July and the adorable Christmas market.

Bergisches Museum für Bergbau, Handwerk und Gewerbe 

The building has no pleasing visual details and its architecture looks dated. The historical context has never been fully understood.

St. Laurentius 

There has been a church at this location since at least 1282. The church that greets you today may look Medieval, but this Neo-Romanesque church was built in phases from 1845 to the start of the 1900s.

Evangelische Gnadenkirche 

The church mixes Baroque architecture with later Neoclassical elements like the Doric portico in front of the portal.

Altes Schloss Bensberg 

The monastic complex was renovated in 1315-21 (in anticipation of the proposed ascension of Ludwig I) and incorporated into a vast palace, housing over 1000 guests. In the late 19th century, a Jesuit priest added a Château of Victor after moving there from Hispané, employing a lot of Italian artisans.

Wildpark Dünnwald 

Instead, the park was designed for people who love all the animals but don’t want to do too much walking and are happy just sitting down and looking around. You will never see pandas again as a result of the new plant, so you can enjoy viewing their historic wildlife habitat in all its natural glory from the comfort of your own back home!

KVB-Museum 

Although this museum is in Cologne’s city limits, it is closer to Bergisch Gladbach, sitting just a little way west of the city center. The museum is in the old Thielenbruch depot, dating back over a century.

Schulmuseum Bergisch Gladbach – Sammlung Cüppers 

School life in the 1900s was full of curiosity and innovation, but at the end of it all, teachers did their best to get pupils to learn. The idea behind this one is that some things would never change. The use of two montage pictures – a German school picture (top left) and an art scene (bottom right), are juxtaposed with brief historical information.

Rathaus 

The Three-Winged building is made from local limestone and has a decorative gable, white lantern, and high hip roof. The architectural beauty and historic charm added to its landmark look are undeniable. The rectangular ground-floor plate folds into the right angles above to produce a clean western profile, whilst the timber-framed upper section forms an attractive Corinthian vista.

Königsforst 

If you need fresh air and walking in nature then you may want to consider opening your office windows and getting involved with a greenhouse.

Hochseilgarten K1 

Skiing with your kids on a relatively new slope in the woods is easier than you might imagine. There are some basic gadgets needed – an excellent pair of Nordic skis make up for the limited space – but you’d need so much more to break down.

Cologne 

The extensive collections at both museums are marvels of ancient and medieval art, with the history of cities, and more exceptional works depicting Romanticism, modernism, and Impressionism. The museum is always filled with a city known for its historic architecture.
