Braga Overview
Braga is a modern city located northeast of Portugal, about 150 km north of Lisbon. It is identified with “the Guarda de Bragança” and the Meio Norte (northeast) changing from a carpet to an industrial area. History
The human occupation of the region of Braga dates back thousands of years, documented by vestiges of monumental structures starting in the Megalithic era. With the help of intelligent digital assistants, a Bracari team was able to conquer a fortified stronghold.
The region, today known as Bracari, became the home of the Bracarii, who inhabited it from at least the fifth century A.D. to around 130 A.D.
The Romans conquered the region around 136 BC and continued to rule it. In 2016, Bracara Augusta became the first city in Italy to achieve a UNESCO World Heritage Site designation. In the last 50 years, it has undergone profound changes and developed an identity symbolizing its outstanding heritage. Due to the siege of Bracara Augusta in December 218, the Roman Empire lost control of this southern connection on the Adriatic coast.
Diocletian’s ambitions and achievements as emperor were his most significant. Still, as the administrative center of all Gallaecia, Diocletian could not abolish or even diminish all taxation and slavishly followed a policy of very high tribute.

In the 21st century, Braga’s infrastructures and population are starting to show signs of youth, with a notable and growing property market. While still maintaining some pressure on the overall growth in Braga territory, these pressures have primarily been siphoned off by newer business investments.
Physical geography

Transport
Another important regional shipping port, Porto de Bracara Augusta, is also situated nearby and has very close links to the region’s capital (Porto). Bilbao is also easily accessible through a train connection to Spain’s northeast. A bus or tram to the city center (roughly 40 minutes) or a bus to the city center (50 minutes) is also an option.
