Gandia Overview
Gandia is located on the Mediterranean coast in the Valencian Community in eastern Spain. Gandia is situated on the Costa del Azahar (or Costa dels Tarongers), 65 kilometers (40 miles) south of Valencia and 110 kilometers (68 miles) north of Alicante. The N-332 road provides access to the city for vehicles.
In the 15th and 16th centuries, Guadia was an important cultural and commercial center, with a university in the 15th century. Several influential people lived there, including the poet Ausiàs March (1400-1459) and the novelist Joanot Martorell (1410-1465). As a result of their family title, Duke of Gandia (initially created in 1399), it is perhaps best known for the Borja or Borgia.
In 2020, Gandia will be one of Spain’s most significant coastal towns, with a population of over 200,000 during the summer and a center of trade and tourism. During the summer, Gandia Beach has apartments and summer residences, which are used as summer residences during the summer season and Gandia City, has historical monuments, shopping, and commercial activity. The beach area is home to most of the bars and nightclubs, and it is common for Spain’s nightlife to begin well after midnight. Beaches and towns are separated by about 2 kilometers (1 mi), separating summer tourism from daily life.

Water sports, golf, and tennis are also available. The annual Cortoons Gandia animation festival takes place in April in the city, celebrating international animation and short films.
Geography
Over 1.2 square kilometers (0.46 square miles) of regional wetlands are located near the city’s outskirts, Marjal de La Safor. Various water plants can be found in this natural area, including Lemna gibba and Lemna minor, as well as several species of water lilies, such as Nymphaea alba, Utricularia australis, and Potamogeton fluitans. In addition, there are underwater plants like Myriophyllum and Ceratophyllum. In addition to several species of Phragmites and Typha domingensis, we also have a variety of Scirpus and Cladium species.
Several palm trees are naturalized in the area, and their seeds are dispersed throughout the marsh by animals or wind. The most common naturalized palm trees in the area are:

- Phoenix canariensis (Canary Island date palm).
Chamaerops humilis (European palmetto) is rarer than naturalized species, but some specimens exist.
Various birds, fish, amphibians, reptile species, and some mammal species can also be found in this natural zone. Different bird species in this area include Tachybaptus ruficollis, Anas platyrhynchos, Falco tinnunculus, Fulica atra, and Gallinula chloropus. Some of the most common fish and amphibian species are Cobitis maroccana, Anguilla anguilla, Syngnathus abaster, Bufo bufo, Bufo calamita, and Rana perezi.
Reptiles most commonly found in Spain are turtles. A native species (Emys orbicularis) is severely declining due to the introduction of Trachemys scripta scripta and Trachemys scripta elegans, known as Florida turtles. In addition to Tarentola mauritanica and Podarcis hispanicus, there are also the Natrix maura and Tarentola maura.
European rabbits, hedgehogs, greater white-toothed shrews, European bats, and wild hogs are among the most common and native mammals. The most common and native mammals are:

- The European hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus)
Climate
There are warm summers and mild winters in Gandia, described by Köppen as a Mediterranean climate (Köppen climate classification: Csa). The average temperature is between 18 and 19 degrees Celsius during the year. In Gandia, about 600mm of rain falls yearly, mainly between September and November, and wet weather is most prevalent in autumn.

Public transport
Gandia has an extensive bus network as well as two Renfe stations that connect it to Valencia (despite one station only having three daily services). Two bus companies operate in the Gandia area: La Marina Gandiense and L’Urbanet. There are two lines of the La Marina Gandiense, one that connects Gandia with the nearby municipality of Real de Gandia and sometimes with the University, and the other that connects Gandia with the beach, located 5 km from the city. The L’Urbanet has three lines, although one is divided, so four would be counted. Below are the following lines:
- Line 3: Circular. It starts and ends at the Renfe station in Gandia city.
- Line 4: Gandia train station – San Francisco de Borja hospital
- Line 5: This line has the peculiarity that despite being the same line, it makes two different routes, which are:
- Gandia train station – Marenys de Rafalcaid
- Gandia train station – Marchuquera
Bus lines also connect Gandia with nearby villages such as Daimuz, Guardamar de la Safor, Oliva, etc. Some buses also connect Gandia with cities such as Madrid, Salamanca, Medina del Campo, Tordesillas, Teruel, Zaragoza, Bilbao, Galicia, Barcelona, Alicante, and Andalucía.
Referring to train services, Gandia has two train stations that connect Gandia with Valencia. Both of them are terminals of line C-1 from Cercanías Valencia. The following stations are:
