Dechen Cave

The top show cave in Germany was discovered in 1868 by two rail workers after one dropped his hammer into a crevice and went looking for it.

Danzturm

Atop the 385-meter Fröndenberg hill in the Iserlohner Stadtwald (City Forest) in the Sauerland countryside south of the city is a telegraph station from 1909.

Historische Fabrikenanlage Maste-Barendorf

Built by Iserlohn manufacturers Duncker and Maste around a brass rolling mill at the beginning of the 19th century, this historic needle factory consists of ten half-timbered buildings.

Sauerlandpark Hemer

Some of the attractions created for the show have been preserved, such as the “garden of the senses” with different scents, the maze, and a rose garden.

Marienkirche

This 14th-century church, distinguished by its whitewashed walls, is also beloved in Iserlohn. Some historical art can be found in this two-nave hall church, the city’s most prominent Protestant place of worship.

Seilersee

In summer, you can rent pedal boats or rowboats from the little boathouse, stroll along the shore, and see exotic birds at the aviary.

Bismarckturm

Climbing the memorial tower to the first German chancellor and unification figure Otto von Bismarck would be calorie-burning in the Seilerwald.

St.-Pankratius-Kirche

This 10th-century Romanesque basilica is the oldest preserved building in Iserlohn. A 60-meter tower in the church was used for defensive purposes in its early days, which explains the lack of ornamentation.

Stadtmuseum Iserlohn

Located in an 18th-century baroque townhouse, the city museum has an excellent regional reputation and is part of the European Route of Industrial Heritage.

Villa Wessel

Take Gartenstraße from the old center into an affluent suburb of Iserlohn’s bourgeoisie in the 19th century. A balustraded terrace surrounds Villa Wessel, built in the 1890s for industrialist Otto Auer among grand historicist mansions.
