Send Gift Baskets to Kedainiai, Lithuania

The area was the site of several battles during “The Deluge”, the 17th-century war between the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and Sweden. In 1655, a short-lived peace treaty with Sweden, called “The Union of Kėdainiai,” was signed by two members of the Radziwiłł family. The only thing that remains of the Radziwiłł castle is the Catholic, 17th-century church. It is worth a visit as it also houses crypts that were built for members of this aristocratic family. The most popular one among visitors is Krzysztof Radziwiłł and his son Janusz who are buried there.

Scottish Protestants arrived in Krakow during the late 16th and 17th centuries; they were encouraged to change their faith by Anna Radziwill, at that time one of the leaders in Polish Protestantism. Their influence on the city remained for a long time, even when their number dwindled after the mid-19th century. The town square has buildings from all different parts of town, including Scottish houses. These were built by merchants and have a very unusual design. There are several buildings in Kingston that are on the heritage list, such as the George Anderson House, John Arnot House, George Bennet House, and James Gray House. The Alexandar Gordon house’s basement has survived.
