Uitkijktoren Sahara

Featuring curved contours on its frame reminiscent of rolling dunes in the Sahara desert, this 30-meter watchtower has a jagged appearance. There are more than 3.5 kilometers of rope wrapped around the building.

Since 1891, the Lommel region has been mining quartz sand, an essential ingredient in glassmaking. Former quarries have been converted into nature reserves, like Lommelse Sahara, which has left its mark on the landscape.

Center Parcs de Vossemeren

Surrounded by many hectares of woodland, this park has an indoor subtropical pool, a pirate-themed indoor play area, two lakes for water sports, a petting zoo, several restaurants, and a spa.

Marktplein

Featuring a rough triangular plan and rows of lime trees, Lommel’s marketplace has something for everyone. Tourist information is located on the east side of the square, and many cafes, brasseries, and restaurants are nearby.

Sint-Pietersbandenkerk

Most of this church is neo-Gothic from the beginning of the 20th century, but the tower is Medieval, in a Kempen Gothic style. A polychrome carving of Mary from the 16th century is the most critical piece of art inside the church that predates it.

Burgemeestershuis en Park

This gorgeous patch of greenery is just south of the center of Lommel. Lawns and mature trees surround the old parkland for the mayor’s residence.

Leyssensmolen

The Leyssensmolen has been dismantled, relocated, and reassembled three times, in 1808-09, 1964, and 2007. Recent moves have allowed the mill to catch the wind more effectively on Zandstraat.
