1. Isenburger Schloss

   – Isenburg Castle is where the Counts of the House of Isenburg lived for centuries. It was only recently that they became Princedoms towards the end of 1800. Standing on the south side of Schlossplatz, it is evident that this is just one of what was originally to be four wings. The arcade, loggia, and sculptures make it worthwhile to lose some time studying its interesting design.

2. Schloss Rumpenheim

   – Schloss Rumpenheim is a little less than 600 years old and for about 300 of those years it was the home of the family that ruled Hesse-Kassel. The hotel’s architecture is a fusion of baroque Neoclassical styles and among the many famous people who have stayed here are Franz Joseph I of Austria, the future British King Edward VII, and the Danish Kings Christian IX and Frederick VIII. Being annexed to Prussia after the Austo-Prussian War, property in the Hessian State fell into disrepair. However, in 1977 a construction company revitalized it and restored its former glory.

3. Büsing Palais

   – Offenbach also contains one of Büsing Palais’s big landmarks – a graceful former manor house that is now used for conventions and exhibitions and enveloped in a public parkland.

4. Klingspor Museum

   – The museum’s name comes from the Klingspor Type Foundry, which was in business between 1906 and 1956 and produced an array of foundry types, such as Peter Behrens’ “Behrens Roman,” Rudolf Koch’s Neuland, and Kabel.

5. German Leather Museum

   – Leather and its many applications have been in existence for centuries. Offenbach is the perfect place to find a museum with leather design exhibits spanning across the globe. The museum is also well-known for preserving masterpieces of leather design of over 100 years.

6. Wetterpark

   – Offenbach is sometimes called the “weather city” because it is the headquarters for the German Weather Service. By this, there is a free meteorologically themed park in the southeast of town.

7. Westend

   – The neighborhood in Offenbach starts right after the Ludwigstraße Leather Museum and covers a few blocks across and down, stretching from Ludwigstraße to Gutenbergstraße. Today, the Westend is still considered an upper-class area with its posh shops. It’s also a more tranquil place to spend some time.

8. Alter Friedhof

   – The cemetery has been in use since 1832 and was recently listed by the National Council for Monument Protection. The historic memorials and beautiful plane trees that were planted about two centuries ago are now a site of interest.

9. Haus der Stadtgeschichte

   – One of the best finds so far is a Celtic prince’s burial in a wagon, with an accompanying model showing what the wagon would have looked like.

10. Waldzoo Offenbach

    – On the edge of Offenbach is a western park for different domestic pets. The zoo prides itself in interactivity and you can buy bags of pet food near the entrance.

11. Capitol

    – The Capitol was built in 1916 as a synagogue and community place for Offenbach’s large Jewish population. From the inside and out, what will immediately catch your eye is the rotunda- it has a 30-meter dome that is supported by reinforced concrete, it’s new material even though the Capitol was made in 1916.

12. Wilhelmsplatz

    – Wilhelmsplatz is lined on both sides by chestnut trees and is the scene for Offenbach’s weekly market, which we’ll talk about next. If you’re walking around on foot in Offenbach, there’s a good chance you’ll end up here at this spacious rectangular square in the middle of town.

13. Wochenmarkt

    – In summer Offenbach’s market has a lot of charm and this time of year the bars, cafes, and bistros share their spot on the pavement with the stalls from under the shadow of chestnut trees.

14. Mainufer

    – The Main used to be a shipping artery for the warehouses and other waterside industries leading up to the water. Nowadays it’s an urban park running on both sides of the river, with new residential development coming in.

15. Frankfurt

    – If you’re looking for a place to spend your time in Offenbach, there are plenty of opportunities waiting for you. There is a modern urban center just around the bend in the Main. You could catch the S-Bahn and be in a forest of skyscrapers within minutes.
