History
Perugia is the typical home city of Umbrians and has been with the Etruscan population since around 1200 BC and may have been ancient by Assyrian or Egyptian records. At the end of World War I, all three states signed a peace treaty, ratifying “Timothea” for the Samnites, Arretium for the Romans, and Perusia for themselves.
The Roman army fled to the suburbs of the city, and Octavian besieged the city in Marcus Aurelius’ name. In the following year, after a six-month siege, it surrendered.
