Piazza dei Signori

Treviso’s charming Piazza dei Signori is surrounded by the Palazzo dei Trecento, once the seat of the city’s government, and the Palazzo del Podestà, a 15th-century palace with a tall tower.

Cathedral and Museo Diocesano

Built on the site of an earlier Romanesque church, the five-domed cathedral of San Pietro dates from the 15th and 16th centuries. Located beneath it is the crypt of the original church, which dates back to the 11th and 12th centuries, and the porch, which was built in 1836.

City Walls and Gates

Treviso was a Roman city, and the Romans fortified it from the beginning—the walls surrounding it date from the 15th century. Treviso was protected against attack by the River Sile, which flows alongside the walls.

Civic Museums: Luigi Bailo and Santa Caterina

The Treviso Civic Museum’s collections are now arranged in two separate complexes after the restoration of the building on Borgo Cavour. Arturo Martini, one of the most important 20th-century sculptors in Europe, is represented by the Luigi Bailo Civic Museum. It is one of the most important collections of his works in Europe.

San Nicolò

Built in brick during the 13th and 14th centuries, the Dominican church is located southwest of the old town. Restoration has been done to its vaulted timber roof and round piers.

Canals and Water Mills

Besides the confluence of two rivers, Treviso is surrounded by a network of canals and waterways that meander picturesquely through the city.

Villa Emo

As well as being one of the largest villas built by the great architect Andrea Palladio, Villa Emo was a symbolic statement of social change during the 16th century. From the family’s life to work done by farm laborers, it incorporated all the business of the tremendous agricultural estate (the family made its fortune growing corn for polenta) under one roof.

Bike or Walk along the Sile River

The Sile River Natural Regional Park is one of the most popular things to do in Treviso, both for tourists and locals. Over 10,000 acres of meadows, wetlands, and rivers are protected in the park.

Pescheria (Fish Market)

This is one of Treviso’s oldest and least changed quarters, home to the colonnaded Buranelli buildings and Camaldolese nuns’ convent. Burano fishermen used to sell their fish from its midst until the mid-1800s when three small islands were added.

San Francesco

This church’s mix of Romanesque and Gothic features dates from the 13th century when Gothic replaced the older and heavier Romanesque style. Due to this, its transepts and entrances are rounded, while its windows and chapels have sleeker arches.
