Villinger Münster

There are 50 meters tall towers on the sublime Gothic münster in Villingen’s old town. In the 12th century, it was a Romanesque church, but a fire in 1271 forced it to be rebuilt as a High Gothic church.

Franziskanermuseum Villingen

Villingen’s former Franciscan monastery, which had operated for over 500 years, now houses this museum.

This museum is located within the Schwenningen-based Württembergische Uhrenfabrik Bürk was established in 1855.

Münsterbrunnen Villingen

In 1989, Klaus Ringwald, a Black Forest artist, unveiled a fountain in Münsterplatz next to the church. A unique octagonal sculpture is fashioned from bronze, gold, enamel, and concrete, representing the city’s 1,000-year history.

Villinger Stadtmauer

An almost complete oval belt of parkland surrounds the old town the ditch, defending the partially intact inner wall. Three gates are left: the Oberes Tor in the north, the Riettor in the west, and the Bickentor in the east.

und Uhrenmuseum Schwenningen – Located in a half-timbered building from the 1700s that was once a teacher’s lodging, this museum showcases clocks and local culture.

Aussichtsturm auf der Wanne

Villingen’s old town can be seen from atop the 778-metre Wanne mountain to the east. In its 30-meter height, the tower looks like nothing else from the period with its octagonal footprint, three platforms, and steel lattice construction.

See light aircraft such as a Fokker Dr. I from the First World War, hundreds of model planes, and an early de Havilland Ghost jet engine.

Schwenninger Moos

That might sound forbidding, but the Schwenninger Moos is threaded with hiking paths through spruce and birch forests and along a pier that overlooks the area.

Stadtpark Möglingshöhe

Schwenningen’s city park merges with the Schwenninger Moos to the north. The park has large tracts of deep woods, which can be accessed via a network of trails.
