Dictador 12-years-old is distilled from first press sugar cane juice fermented for 60 hours at 14 to 20°C, part of which is distilled in copper pot stills (double distilled) and part in two columns of a six-column, all-steel continuous still.

The average strength of the distillate after the second pot still distillation is 66% and the last column is 77% alc./ vol. The distillates are blended and aged in 85 percent ex-bourbon barrels and 15 percent ex-cherry casks (casked at 77% alc./vol.) for 8 to 14 years, giving the 12-year-old average age stated on the label.
