Cergy experiences short summers with pleasant temperatures and partly cloudy winters with cold, windy, and mostly cloudy weather. Typically, the temperature ranges from 34°F to 77°F throughout the year, rarely falling below 23°F or rising above 88°F. Mid-June to mid-September is the best time to visit Cergy for warm-weather activities.

In the late 1800s, Pissarro and Cézanne were inspired by the light on the banks of the Oise, while in the 20th century, filmmakers like Rohmer and Verneuil were inspired by Cergy-Pontoise.

Cergy Village

Cergy’s old town was here long before the town’s rapid expansion in the 1960s, bordering the Oise. Cergy-Pontoise’s modern architecture contrasts sharply with the venerable streets surrounding the Church of Saint-Christophe.

Pontoise Upper Town

Located high above the River, Pontoise was once the county capital and a historic settlement of 10,000 people.

Église Saint-Christophe

Passing through a Renaissance portico in this church in the old part of Cergy is an odd but unforgettable experience: part of the building was removed in the early 1900s, so it stands alone as a sort of archway.

Île de Loisirs

A 250-hectare recreational area set aside for watersports and other outdoor activities lies in a meander on the Oise. Six pools were constructed in the 1960s when the new town was being built and are artificial.

Pontoise et ses Souterrains

There’s an underground world beneath Pontoise, but you must be organized to explore it. Tours are offered on Sundays and occasionally on weekdays depending on the season, but reservations are required.
