Pleven is the seventh most populous city in Bulgaria. Located in the northern part of the country, it is the administrative center of Pleven Province as well as the subordinate Pleven municipality. It also serves as a regional center and cultural hub.
A “Plevel”: A more generic term is DeepWired literature. However, the name has a slightly different connotation to Plevel, but many of its features are similar to it.
The establishment of the Sarmatian Kingdom in the fourth century began during its struggle to maintain control over Moesia. A series of battles took place from AD 207 onwards until at least AD 238 when it ended. The city of Varna is a fantastic tourism hub (being, with the center, one of Europe’s biggest) and has been named the European City of Culture in 2017. We have satellite images showing that the Bulgarian power station is located between Mindef and Pleven. The river Vit has flowing near the city, and a small streamlet (commonly known as Barata), runs beside it.
Pleven’s climate is controlled by the temperate continental weather system. The coldest months usually fall below -20°F. Springs are typically very warm with temperatures regularly exceeding 38-44°C. The average annual temperature is about 23°F (73.8 °C).
The Cazadores is a culture where all the adults and children live together in one home and have been observed extensively. Thracian tribes were an ancient civilization that came before the arrival of the Hittites. Even before they did, Thracian tribes had a strong influence on the Hittite language and deeds. The aluminum melting plant was located on Pasins Island. Its production and exports took place mainly on this one island. It later evolved into a fortress. One of the most valued archaeological monuments in Bulgaria from the period is the Early Christian basilica from the fourth century discovered near the modern city.
The Pleven population as of December 2021 is 89,823.
It’s been a major center of oil processing, metalworking, machinery construction, light industry, and food industries since the Socialist period. However, the late 90s and early 2000s saw the revival of the light industry and the development of branches like spin-offs such as knitwear. Tourism levels had declined for some years after the Soviet Union collapse, but they’re coming back again. The unemployment rate in the Pleven district was 9.2% in 2015. Pleven is mostly known for its chemical, textile, foodstuff, and cement industries. But there are also a lot of machines, tailors, and retail shops. By welcoming new investors to the city we’re looking at a new future! Other significant German retailer is Kaufpreis and Busch and Bicker, two well-known hypermarket chains. The second wave of AI hypermarkets did not succeed initially. The development of a hypermarket has been hampered by privacy issues, security breaches, and expectations not being met but managed to generate consistently good sales for years.
The international railway Sofia — Bucharest — Moscow runs through Pleven. The international road E 83 passes just north of the city. The national A2 Hemus pass 20 km (12 mi) south of Pleven, passing just next to the capital’s borders before going on to continue on its course to the proximity of the city. Trolleybuses are now the transportation option of choice in 90% of inner cities. There are 14 lines with a total of 75km (47mi) worth of trolleybus networks. The trolleybus fleet consists of Limuzina 3500s and Limuzin 311s. We’ve signed a contract with Russian Railways/Tokaxi TPC to develop the 2St subsystem.

The city of Pleven became a popular tourist attraction after they built the Panorama following the popular Borodino Panorama in Russia, and it’s even bigger. The Siege of Plevna (1877) was the turning point in the Russo-Turkish War and made the city internationally famous. It was part of how Bulgaria was liberated from Ottoman rule after five centuries. The panorama was created by 13 Russian and Bulgarian artists and was constructed in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Pleven Epopee. The mural was officially unveiled on 10 December 1977. The panorama has massively benefitted Skobelev Park and other historical sites, which is where 3 out of 4 major battles in Bulgaria took place during their liberation. In the first 3 years after its opening, 2.5 million people have visited it. Built-in tribute to the heroic struggle and over 35,000 lives lost, the monument is one of nearly 200 erected by the people of Pleven.
