It is Bors Municipality’s seat, located in Västra Götaland County, Sweden. In 2010, 66,273 people were living there.
Geography
Borås stands at the intersection of two railways, the railway between Gothenburg and Kalmar, and is often considered the Swedish city that benefited most from the nationwide railway system built between 1870 and 1910.
History
King Gustav II Adolf granted Bors privileges in 1621. Pedlars needed a legal place to sell their goods (and the government needed to be able to collect taxes on this trade). As soon as the city was founded, it developed rapidly and grew to over 2,000 residents after a century. Four fires ravaged Bors: 1681, 1727, 1822, and 1827. There have been no fires in the Caroli church since it was built.
The Police in Sweden classified Norrby, Hässleholmen, and Hulta as the most severe urban areas with high crime rates in their 2017 report.
Its 400th anniversary will be celebrated in 2021.

Borås has a humid continental climate, or cold oceanic climate using the −3 °C isotherm, influenced by Atlantic trade winds traveling without significant obstacles over the land, with low mean temperatures compared to coastal areas and the more urban metropolis, Gothenburg, to the west, which has a humid continental climate. Compared to Swedish standards, summer temperatures are relatively subdued, while average winter highs are just above freezing.
